Code of Conduct

Effective date: 20 July 2026 Last updated: 27 July 2026

PawPals is a community directory built for the furry fandom. This Code of Conduct sets the baseline for how members are expected to behave and what kind of content is welcome on the platform.

We want PawPals to be a space where furries of all backgrounds can show up as themselves without harassment or hostility.

Our Standards

Be respectful

Treat other members with basic respect. Disagreements happen; harassment does not have to.

Examples of behavior that is not welcome:

  • Sending unwanted sexual or romantic messages to other users
  • Targeting someone with repeated negative contact after they've asked you to stop
  • Posting another person's private information (doxxing)
  • Impersonating another furry, artist, or public figure without clear satirical intent
  • Using slurs or hate speech targeting race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
  • Harassment of members based on their species, fursona choices, or participation in the fandom

Keep your content appropriate

Adult content permitted with tagging: Members may post adult content (explicit imagery, mature themes) only on profiles explicitly marked as adult content. Adult content on unmarked profiles will be removed. All adult content must comply with applicable law.

No illegal content

Do not use PawPals to distribute or facilitate:

  • Content that sexualizes minors (CSAM) — zero tolerance, immediate ban and law enforcement referral
  • Malware, phishing links, or other harmful code
  • Copyright-infringing content posted without permission
  • Content that facilitates real-world harm (threats, incitement to violence)

Be honest

  • Do not misrepresent yourself in ways that deceive or harm others
  • Do not create accounts to impersonate or clone another person's presence
  • Do not use fake or misleading commission status information to defraud clients

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • Content posted on your PawPals profile (bio, gallery, social link labels)
  • Your profile images (avatar, header)
  • Your username and display name
  • Reports and communications submitted to PawPals staff

It does not govern your conduct on other platforms. However, a pattern of harmful conduct elsewhere in the fandom that creates risk or harm for PawPals community members may be considered during moderation decisions.

Enforcement

PawPals staff review reported profiles and content. Depending on severity, enforcement actions include:

  1. Warning — a notice that content or behavior violates this Code of Conduct
  2. Content removal — specific content taken down without account suspension
  3. Temporary suspension — account access suspended for a fixed period
  4. Permanent ban — account terminated; re-registration may be blocked

Violations involving CSAM, credible threats, or doxxing result in immediate permanent ban with no warning step.

How to report

Use the Report button on any public profile. Describe what you witnessed and, where applicable, include a link or screenshot. Reports are reviewed by the moderation team and kept confidential.

For reports that need direct contact or escalation, please email moderation@pawpals.place

Appeals

If you believe that your account was suspended in error, you may email moderation@pawpals.place to appeal. Please provide as detailed of a response as you can, including any relevant documentation, to expedite the process. Submitting an appeal does not guarantee action taken in your favor.

Staff Conduct

PawPals staff are held to the same standards as regular members, plus:

  • Moderation decisions must be made based on the Code of Conduct, not personal relationships
  • Staff may not use their access to view private account data outside of active investigations
  • Staff conflicts of interest (e.g., a report involving a personal friend) must be disclosed and recused

Changes

We may update this Code of Conduct as the community grows and as edge cases arise. Significant changes will be announced to registered members.

PawPals is built for furries, by furries. We want it to reflect the fandom at its best.
